RAD ACID ATHLETICS

Huge congratulations to everyone who took on the RAD x Acid Athletics workout on the 8th of May!

A massive thank you as well to everyone who came down to cheer people on and help judge, especially Emma, Lise, and Serg for supporting despite not being able to take part themselves.

And thank you to Claire for capturing the night and taking all the photos!

Now to the winners, who have each earned themselves a pair of RAD trainers:

1st Place Female - Lorea

1st Place Male - Pete

MVP - Barry

Our nominated competitor, he left absolutely everything out on the floor, gave 100% from start to finish... and also kept everyone fuelled with sweets

Big well done to everyone who took part - we’ll let the winners know as soon as the shoes arrive!

MURPH

A huge well done to everyone who completed Murph on Bank Holiday Monday - which also happened to be the hottest day of the year so far.

A last minute change in class times saw everyone complete Murph by 11am before the temperatures rose to high (and so we could all head to the park for a drink in the sun!) Whether you completed Murph as prescribed or tackled one of the scaled versions, every effort was equally impressive and something to be proud of.

A big thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to those who stayed around to cheer others on. Special thanks also to Claire for capturing the occasion with some fantastic photos and videos, and to Tom and Serg for coaching.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who turned up, put in the work, and supported those around them.

TIMETABLE CHANGES

Due to the success of our Kids Club, we've added an extra Kids Class on Tuesdays at 4pm alongside our existing Thursday session!

If you have, or know, a child aged 6-12 who might be interested, get in touch and they can come along for a free taster session.

As with Thursdays, we'll also be running an Adult Intervals class during that hour. This session will follow a similar style to Thursday Intervals but with a different structure and workout focus to keep things varied, challenging, and enjoyable.

We've also introduced a dedicated Strength class on Wednesdays at 7pm. These sessions will run in 8-week strength cycles, focusing on two compound lifts alongside accessory work designed to build strength and support long-term progress.

Gymnastics has moved to Thursdays at 7pm, while Monday Barbell remains unchanged and will continue alternating between Clean & Jerk and Snatch cycles.

We've also adjusted our Friday evening class times to 4:30pm and 5:30pm to better fit around work schedules and help more people make it to the gym after work.

As always, we really appreciate everyone's support and feedback as we continue to develop our timetable and programming. Our goal is to create the best possible experience for all members, so if you have any thoughts, suggestions, or feedback on the new sessions, we'd love to hear from you.

Rainhill Trials

A huge well done to our members who travelled to Manchester on 16th May to compete in the Rainhill Individual Competition.

Before the event, all athletes completed a series of seeding workouts and were then placed into one of three divisions based on ability: Wood (Scaled), Kennedy (Intermediate), or Rocket (Advanced). This format ensures athletes compete against others of a similar level, making for a challenging and competitive weekend.

Results:

Paul – 20th place in Wood

Josh – 18th place in Kennedy

Gemma – 35th place in Kennedy

Jen – 18th place in Rocket

Serg – 22nd place in Rocket

Oli – 25th place in Rocket

The next individual Rainhill event is on the 22nd of November and we already have a number of members signed up. Whether you're looking to challenge yourself on the competition floor or simply come along to support, it would be great to get a big CrossFit Cheltenham team there. The atmosphere is always incredible, and having a strong group of athletes and supporters makes the day even better.

If you're interested in competing but aren't sure where to start, speak to one of the coaching team - we'd love to help you prepare.

Thanks for being part of the CrossFit Cheltenham community. Have a great June, and we’ll see you in the gym!
