Meet Sarah!


How long have you been at CrossFit Cheltenham? I’ve been at CrossFit for 2.5 years

Why did you join CrossFit Cheltenham? I needed to put myself out of my comfort zone. My training plan was leaving me feeling that I should be pushing myself harder but I didn’t have the push of like minded people to spur me on!

What is your favourite thing about CrossFit Cheltenham? I absolutely love being upside down so anything with a handstand and I’m happy. But what I also love is that feeling of accomplishment when you’ve tried your damn hardest, got bruises or cut hands, and then you bloody crack whatever it is you’ve been trying to get, and then I will literally bore anyone who will listen to me about it!!!!!

Who inspires you at CrossFit Cheltenham? I think I’m inspired by a number of people. Coaches obvs, then those of us who are going through our own journey but supporting one another along the way

What time of day do you prefer to train? I normally do open gym in the morning on a Monday or have PT with Kylie. We work through those bits that are still alluding me!! I also do a Tuesday AM class, and lunchtime on a Wednesday and Thursday. Then Friday is when myself and a bunch of awesome women get together and pick a WOD or two and help to get each other through! I met these girls at CrossFit and I have a great respect and fondness for them! We push each other through, especially when we crazily decide to do a Hero WOD!!!

What is your favourite WOD? Probably one where you can either just chip away for 40 mins or anything where you’re upside down. I’m not keen on any WOD where you have to finish with a mile run!!!!

Of all the different CrossFit disciplines, which one do you excel in? I’m not really sure I excel in CrossFit but I absolutely have fallen in love with it and for the last few weeks have done the HIIT class on a Saturday, so that’s taken me from two years ago and twice a week to now 6 times a week!

What is your favourite WODing jam? I just need some kinda upbeat music to get me through!

What is your favourite food? Favourite food would have to be peanut butter!!!!

What's your ultimate 'cheat meal'? Steak with chunky chips!

What's your favourite tipple? My favourite tipple would be a gin and tonic but if I’m out I love a dirty martini If anyone’s buying.

What's your favourite memory at CrossFit Cheltenham so far? Favourite memory, that’s hard to answer but I can tell you a few of the highlights...

The fact that I’m now happy and confident to do open gym, something I didn’t imagine doing!

How has CrossFit improved you or your life? CrossFit has improved my strength and overall fitness. It got me my spark back for exercise!

What are your goals and aspirations for the next year? My goals are to lean up more and to just keep improving on all elements. I really want to get my bar muscle ups without a band and butterfly pull ups, oh and chest to bars! I’m happy with the weights side of things. I just wish I had found CrossFit when I was in my twenties but heyho never too late to get started!

Do you have a motto? I don’t know if I have a motto but my husband is always saying “don’t worry about things until they happen”, which is good advise as worrying won’t change the outcome.
